Using video and images

Video and images can be important and useful sources of information in your work, particularly in presentations.

  • showing something can be better than describing it.

  • images make for a more interesting and stimulating presentation.

Find Video, DVD, and audio via Library Search

 Step 1: Search Library Searchvideo online

Step 2: Refine your results to Content Type  Audio / Video

 Step 3: Click item link to get access to video or audio online, or DVD information.

Online Video: shuplayer

shuplayer

shuplayer enables you to watch video and listen to audio programmes online. Its features are:

Video and Audio Online

  • Thousands of recordings of TV and radio broadcasts and commercially produced content; these can be found via Library Search
  • Video created by staff and students; these can be found via Watch Video on the shuplayer home page
  • Access video and audio programmes whenever you want; the majority are also available off campus
  • Bookmarking to create clips for use in presentations and Blackboard
  • Screencasts to help with the above can be found on the Help screen on shuplayer

Live broadcast TV

  • TV channels which support academic courses: English news channels, foreign language channels (French, German, Italian, Spanish)
  • Available on campus only

Recording equipment

Equipment is available to borrow for creating your own media (stills cameras, camcorders and sound recorders).

Edit suites are bookable.  You will need permission from anyone who appears in your work.  See sample release form for obtaining permission.
