Get help

You can get in touch remotely if you need help while you're on placement.  Click on the 'Contact' here to view our email, Twitter, and phone details, and to get access to library chat.

Using Sheffield Hallam electronic resources

The Library Gateway provides access to most of the resources you will need both on and off campus.  Use Library Search to find eBooks, electronic journal articles and other resources; click on 'Full Text Online' link at the top of your search results to filter out print items in the libraries.

If the Library doesn't have something that you need, please place a Document Supply request and we will try to get it for you.

Going on placement?

The 'Going on Placement?' leaflet outlines how you can access library resources and services while you are on placement, you can  download it here.

Accessing your HomeDrive

Don't forget that you can access your HomeDrive while you are off-campus.  On MyHallam, search for 'HomeDrive' to find instructions.

You can log in as normal to access your Blackboard modules and SHU email.

Hospital libraries

You may be able to use hospital libraries for reference and study. In South Yorkshire, some NHS libraries will provide access to their IT facilities and some will allow you to borrow books while you are on placement with that Trust.  These documents will give you an indication of services available to students on placement at South Yorkshire NHS libraries.
