Are you passionate about improving student experience? We're offering exciting opportunities for students to co-design academic skills resources, co-deliver sessions on topics like academic writing and time management, and contribute to key projects in the Skills Centre and Library. If you're interested in shaping student services, sharing feedback, and promoting wellbeing, this is your chance to make a real impact!

Role 1: Student Skills Partners (8 hours per week)

As a Skills Partner, you will work on projects that enhance the work of the Library’s Skills Centre, developing academic skills and library initiatives that are relevant to students in your college. The role will provide a range of opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge and will be flexible around your timetable. You will work collaboratively as a team of Skills Partners, and with Skills Centre and Library staff, to share information and resources, ensuring your work has a university-wide impact.

We're looking for students from BTE and HWLS to join our current team and contribute to the following areas of work:

  •  Co-design academic skills resources and develop materials tailored to diverse student audiences.
  •  Co-deliver webinars alongside Academic Skills Advisors on topics such as academic writing and time management.
  •  Contribute to online communication channels, including social media, to raise awareness and engagement.
  •  Capture, collate, and communicate feedback and user experience data to inform service improvements.

Role 2: Library Student Panel members (4 hours per month)

As a member of the Library Student Panel, you will consult on new library initiatives, policies and resources to ensure they align with student needs. You’ll provide feedback and suggestions to enhance student experience, collaborating with other panel members and library staff to shape services, ensuring your contributions have a university-wide impact.

We're seeking representation from all three colleges and would particularly like to hear from students in the following communities, to help us ensure that your Library is an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone:

  • Distance learners
  • Commuter students
  • Students on placements
  • Students with caring responsibilities
  • Student parents
  • Disabled learners

Panel members will:

  • Attend monthly panel meetings to provide feedback on library initiatives, resources and services to ensure they meet student needs.
  • Consult on new library policies to create an inclusive environment and enhance student engagement.
  • Collaborate on communication strategies and promotional campaigns to engage students.
  • Ensure services are accessible to diverse groups, including under-represented communities.

Follow the links to access the full job descriptions and submit your application - the deadline for both roles is Sunday 3rd November 2024 at 11pm.
