Boost your writing skills with the Assignment Bootcamp

Are you ready to approach your first university assignment with confidence? Want to build essential academic writing skills for success? Or perhaps you're eager to strengthen your techniques in structuring, drafting, and referencing? If so, the Assignment Bootcamp is an ideal starting point for all new undergraduate and postgraduate taught students at Sheffield Hallam.


What is the Assignment Bootcamp? 

The Assignment Bootcamp is a series of four, 60-minute online sessions, that takes participants through the process of researching, planning and writing their first academic essay at university. You'll build your knowledge and confidence in the core principles of essay writing, which you can take away and apply to your own subject areas.

When are the bootcamps taking place?

The Assignment Bootcamp will run twice in October 2024, with an early evening slot for students with work or placement commitments:

Session title: Mondays 12-1pm Wednesdays 5-6pm
Session 1: Planning for Success October 7th October 9th
Session 2: Managing your Reading, Research and References October 14th October 16th
Session 3: Structure and Synthesis October 21st October 23rd
Session 4: Becoming a Critical Writer October 28th October 30th


If you aren't able to attend a live session, you can sign up to receive presentation slides and recordings via email using our online form.
