Learn something new with SHU Library and Academic Skills Teams

Colleagues - students value your advice on the information resources they should use to support their studies.  To help you, teams from LIbrary and Student Support Services ran two showcase events where you could learn more about the range of learning resources to support learning, teaching and research.  The following sections give you more details about the sessions and in some instances include the materials and resources to develop your skills further.

The teams involved in developing and presenting at this conference were;

Academic skills -  provides a programme of workshops, small group forums and online resources to develop academic skills for students.  Some of the areas covered include, critical thinking, critical writing and exam preparation.

Assistive Technology -  offers group training sessions delivered by a team of assistive technology specialists. Learn how to use assistive technology tools to support your study by improving your research skills, academic writing and assist you in your planning and organisation.

Library Teaching and Learning Support Team - supports all library related aspects of learning and teaching across the university. This team provides high quality information and advisory services to students and academic staff, working closely with academic colleagues at subject group level.

Specialist study skills - A service for students who have a learning difference or disability e.g. dyslexia.

Research Support Team - this team provides high quality information and advisory services to research students, researchers and research active academic staff and other university colleagues in support of the University’s aim to build on strengths in research, innovation and knowledge transfer.
