How can I request items that the library doesn't have?

If you need to access a book, book chapter, journal article or other resource that the Library does not already have in our collections, please use Document Supply Services to make a request.

Recommend a resource for learning, teaching or research to the Library

We are always looking for new publications to support your learning, teaching or research, and to keep the library collections up to date with high-quality materials.  If you think we're missing something crucial though, we'd like to hear about it.

You can do this using the form below.

  • If we are unable to purchase a recommended resource then we would explain why we made this decision.
  • Currently, we are prioritising the purchase of digital resources that are on module reading lists or needed to support research.
  • If you request an item that is only available in print we will contact you to discuss whether we are able to purchase it.

We look forward to your recommendations.

Donate books to the Library

If you are interested in donating items to the Library, please read our Donations Policy:

  1. The library encourages all academic staff to donate a copy of any academic publication written or edited by them to the University Library and such donations can be sent without prior agreement.

  1. The Library welcomes donations in a range of formats that support current teaching and research at Sheffield Hallam. We especially welcome resources of significant importance or of a unique nature.

  1.  We will not normally accept material that duplicates our print holdings, unless it is a title in current high demand.

  1. The Library is not able to accept large donations (more than 10 items) without prior agreement, all potential offers should be submitted via the webform below in the first instance.

  1.  The library reserves the right to make discretionary decisions regarding whether all material is added to the collection; any items that are not accepted will be disposed of ethically and sustainably.
