How to request a book

Books can be popular items in the Library! If you find that the book you wish to read is already on loan, you can request the book!

By placing a request, the book will be called back to the Library after the initial loan period and you will be the next person in the queue to read that book. You will receive a notice by email when the book is ready for collection which will also tell you the date by which it has to be collected, or you can also check My Library Account and click on Requests. When the book is ready for pickup, you can collect it from the Requests shelf.

Books can be at the opposite campus library to you as the collections relate to the teaching on each campus. The Library knows that time is precious and to help with this you can request an Adsetts Library book is sent up to Collegiate Library or a Collegiate Library book be sent to the Adsetts Library for you to pick up!

  • Find the book on Library Search and click on Find in Library
  • If you have not already signed in click on Sign-in for more options
  • Click on Request
  • Fill out the short form
  • Click Request to submit

Books you have requested will be held for you at the library you selected, for:

  • 3 days (for full-time students and associate members)
  • 7 days (for part-time students, distance learning students, students with learning contracts, research students, and staff).

Love books - choose your format!

Choose the format you prefer! If you want that physical connection to the text - there is nothing like a print book! You can pop the book in your bag and dip back into that world when taking a break from studies or you could carry it proudly tucked under your arm and you never know it may prompt a conversation with a new person!

If you prefer an eBook, you can find all our eBooks using Library Search. Super useful if the book you want to read runs to 100s of pages or if you just want to grab some technical information or if you are at home and not calling into the Library.

Choose the format that suits you!  Me - I prefer print for fiction but I love the search box feature of an academic eBook!
