Open Research

If you create code / software as part of your research, for example a data collection or analysis tool, you can share it in a number of ways:

• depositing it with the Sheffield Hallam University Research Data Archive (SHURDA). Even if you deposit the code / software elsewhere you should register it on SHURDA.
• adding it to a code development site / repository
  • GitHub 
  • BitBucket
  • Zenodo
  • SourceForge
• publishing it in a specialist journal
  • List of journals from the Software Sustainability Institute
• sharing it through a project site

Sharing code and software helps with the reproducibility of specific projects and also contributes to the tools available for research in general.
