Study Skills over the Winter Vacation 2021/22

by Susannah Diamond on 2021-12-06T00:00:00+00:00 | 0 Comments

Do you want to improve your academic skills over the winter teaching break?

Most (but not all) of the following services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

Get written feedback or chat to a Studiosity writing tutor
You can obtain written feedback on a sample of your work within a day or two of uploading it to Studiosity’s Online Writing Feedback Service. You can also use the Connect Live service to chat online with a Studiosity writing tutor. Available 24/7.

Connect with a student mentor
Level 4 students (the first year of undergraduate study) can connect with an experienced Sheffield Hallam student mentor using either text or voice chat. Available 12-10pm every day.

Online resources
These include study guides from the Skills Centre, the interactive Skills for Study package, and additional resources from the Maths and Stats team and the University English Scheme.

Re-focus your priorities
Complete or revisit the quick course ‘Essential Skills for Academic Success’ to reinvigorate your development priorities, and refresh your personal study plan for the new year with the Skills Check.

Talk to an adviser
Staff from the Skills Centre offer advice via our one-to-one appointments and the Library’s virtual Drop-in (except for Friday 24th December to Monday 3rd January).

Plan ahead
Finally you can also check our what’s on guide to see the webinars, feedback seminars, one to ones, and drop-ins recommencing from 4th January.

Have a great break – we look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
