Borrowing from the Library

Borrowing a laptop

Please see our Laptop Loans page for details. You may also be interested in our 24 hour learning spaces page for more information about access to PCs and study spaces in the libraries.

Borrowing AV - Please note that AV loans are not currently available from the library

You can borrow a variety of Audio Visual (AV) equipment from the Hallam Help points in the Libraries during staffed hours, including dictaphones, cameras, camcorders, and headphones (only 1 of each at one time). Please note:

  • Most equipment can be borrowed for two weeks; you will need your SHUcard in order to do this.
  • Equipment is not bookable in advance and is allocated on a first come first served basis.
  • If items are returned late, you may be blocked from using the service.

Students with a learning contract

Assistive Technology Resources (ATR) can also be borrowed from the Hallam Help points in the Libraries. All items are for day loan and must be used within the library.

If you have applied for Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs), you may be able to borrow equipment such as a digital recorder or laptop from the Disabled Student Support Team.

If you aren't eligible for DSAs but have medical evidence of your disability, you may still be able to borrow equipment. Supplies are limited and we can only loan equipment for disability-related reasons.
