Improving your library

Throughout the year, we routinely look at improving your library’s learning spaces and we’re pleased to let you know that we’ve almost finished making some changes at Adsetts library that we think you’ll like!

Upgrades and improvements

We know that some of the computers can be slow, and you told us that you don’t always use them as you prefer to use your laptop or other personal device. You’ve also said that sometimes, you just need the desk space to spread out your books to read and make notes.

Out with the old, in with the new

In light of your feedback, we’ve replaced 250 computers with new all-in-one computers! These are faster, smaller computers that give you more desk space. Logging on is now quicker than before so you can get to your files and be working on your assignments faster.

If you're the type that prefers to use your own laptop or other device, there are now more power enabled desk spaces on all floors of Adsetts library so you can work flexibly. Good news if you’ve already started on a piece of work on your way into uni and want to find a learning space where you can jump straight back in!

In addition, we’ve also installed a number of refurbished computers throughout Adsetts library, these are also faster and smaller, increasing desk space and making it more comfortable for you to work at. Here at Sheffield Hallam University we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and have a policy of recycling our electronic equipment and reducing waste.

We hope these changes to your library learning spaces will make studying a better experience for you when you visit us. So, we’d like to hear from you about how you’re finding the new layouts - we’ve set up a feedback form that’s totally anonymous - for you to tell us what you like, what you don’t like and anything else you’d like to see us do to make your library a better place for you to work in!

There’s a link below to the feedback form and you'll also find signs throughout Adsetts library with a QR code to scan that’ll take you straight to the form. You can submit feedback more than once, if you think of something you want to tell us whilst you're working in the library then we encourage you to do so!
