What is Studiosity?

Studiosity is an online writing feedback service and a live chat service, available 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week/ 365 days a year. You can submit to or connect with the Studiosity service for free up to 8 times each academic year (in 2021/22) – for either writing feedback or online chat (or any combination of the two):

  • Online Writing Feedback Service: you can upload an extract of your writing (up to 2500 words) and you will receive feedback outlining ways in which you can develop your academic work.
  • Connect Live Chat Service: you can ask a question about your academic writing, study or research skills – interacting with a tutor via text chat and an interactive whiteboard, or using the new voice chat function using your microphone.

In the 2021/22 academic year (1st August 2021 - July 31st 2022), you can upload up to 8 samples of work of up to 2,500 words each (or a combination of 8 submissions and chats with Connect Live). Please be aware that we are not able to grant anyone additional submissions to Studiosity, so aim to plan how you can best use these 8 feedback opportunities across the academic year.

How should I apply my Studiosity feedback?

It is useful to plan when to use your submissions/connections and to use the services alongside the Skills Centre – you can:

  • Participate in a Feedback Seminar – take your feedback report to discuss in a small group session of up to 3 students with an Academic Skills Advisor.
  • Book a 30 minute 1 to 1 appointment with an Academic Skills Advisor (phone, online and face-to-face appointments available). Use your Studiosity feedback report to guide your discussion and develop your academic writing and style.
  • Use online e-learning resources from the Skills Centre – explore our in-depth online study guides and e-learning modules.

How can I access Studiosity?

You access Studiosity via My Hallam (see below for instructions):

  • Step 1: To access the Studiosity service, first log into My Hallam.
  • Step 2: Scroll down and click the Studiosity logo to access the service. This is only visible to students - staff cannot access Studiosity.
