Skills Chat - A new podcast from the Skills Team

It’s a new year - have you made your resolutions? You may already be feeling positive about the year to come, or perhaps you are already feeling burdened by the tyranny of good intentions. We’ve been reflecting on the feeling on ‘new beginnings’ in the Skills Team as we start a new project of our own – our Skills Chat podcast.

Michele and Sam, Skills Advisors in the Skills Team, got together recently to chat about getting started and staying motivated, including tips and hacks that you can glean in 10 minutes. You can listen while walking around town, on the bus, or when cycling into uni. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to snatch little opportunities for learning and build them into your day without too much bother. It’s also a great way to get to know the team and the personalities behind the advisor names on Unihub!

Episode 1 – What motivates you? is all about getting started and how to begin. We share our own experiences of learning, both past and present, and reflect on how to stay motivated through thick and thin. In future episodes, we’ll be interviewing other advisors and colleagues, and talking to students too.

Give it a listen - it only takes ten minutes of your time. You can listen to episode 1 here.

The challenge we are setting this month is to generate a motivational tunes playlist – what tunes get you into the mood to focus and study? We’ve started a playlist on Spotify - PEAK STATE GET STARTEDbut we need your help to add to it. If you have suggestions, please drop us an email at: skillscentre@shu.ac.uk, or tweet your suggestions @HallamSkills.
