Link Checker

LibGuides has an inbuilt link-checking feature that anyone with a Regular or Admin account can use.  This brings to our attention any links on our LibGuides sites that might be broken.  It isn't 100% accurate, so sometimes it identifies links as broken that are fine, but it's right more often than it's wrong.

Using Link Checker

Once you've logged into LibGuides, go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Link Checker'.

On the Link Checker page, please type your surname into the Owner box on the Link Checker page to see just the links that belong to you in the system. 

Also, after you have looked through and dealt with the links in your own name, please type Library into the Owner box to see all the links belonging to the shared 'Hallam Library' user in LibGuides.  If you see any links related to resources within subject areas that you know about, e.g. fashion, please fix them if you can or dismiss any where nothing is wrong.

Link Checker is refreshed by the system every half an hour.  It's up to you how often you look at it; weekly or even monthly would be fine.  The benefit of using it is that the number of broken links encountered by our users will decrease, improving their experience of Library Online.
