24 hour library learning spaces

Bookable library learning spaces

In order to ensure fair access for all Hallam students to bookable library spaces, Hallam library uses a system called MyPC for all library learning space bookings. Please make sure that you have read and understood the library learning space booking policies before making a booking.

If you are not currently a Sheffield Hallam student or Sheffield Hallam member of staff and want to use our library spaces, please see here for further guidance.

Library learning space booking policies

How many bookings can I make?

  • You can book a library learning space up to 14 days in advance.

  • You can have 14 advanced bookings in the booking system at a time.

  • The minimum booking duration for one booking is 1 hour, the maximum booking duration for one booking is 2 hours. You can make multiple bookings if you need to book for more than 2 hours.

  • During peak times (9am-6pm Monday-Sunday) you can make 5 hours of bookings per day on bookable resources. From 6pm-9am Monday-Sunday you can book for as many hours as you like on the resources that are available.

  • You can book one space to use at a time, multiple bookings made for the same date and time are not permitted.

Arriving for your booking

  • Please arrive on time for your bookings. If you have booked an IT space, please login to the computer within 15 minutes of your booking start time, otherwise your booking will automatically cancel and the space will become available for others to book.

  • If you have booked an IT space, you must be the person to login to that space. If you log out of the computer during your booking, the remaining booking time will be cancelled.

  • If you log in to a computer and do not use it for more than 30 minutes, the system will automatically log you out and your remaining booking time will be cancelled.

  • If you are automatically logged off a computer your work will not be saved.

  • During peak times (9am-6pm Monday-Sunday) any time used for bookings that you cancel or that are automatically cancelled will still be available for you to use for another booking that day.

At the end of your desk space booking

  • If you have booked a space without IT, please consider other library users and ensure that you leave the space promptly at the end of your booking.

  • Alternatively, you can check the booking system and make another booking (if the resource is still available) to extend your stay in that space.

At the end of your IT space booking

  • If you have booked an IT space, at the end of your booking the system will remind you that your booking is coming to an end. This happens at 20 minutes,10 minutes and 5 minutes before the end of your booking.

  • Please ensure that you save any work regularly as the system will automatically log off at the end of your booking.

  • Please consider other library users and ensure that you leave the space promptly at the end of your booking.

  • If there are no bookings when your booking is due to end, you will be prompted to extend your booking for one hour.
