How to use a learning space without a booking

Find and use a non-bookable resource

Simply go to the library, follow the signs for the non-bookable areas (or check here to find out which areas are non-bookable) and choose an available space to use.

  • You can use these spaces for as long as you want. There is no time limit.

  • Please note if you log in to a non-bookable IT space and do not use the computer for more than 30 minutes the system will automatically log you out.

Find and use an 'available' bookable resource

Many resources in the library can be booked in advance, however if you are in the library and a bookable resource is available you can use it. Booking in advance is the best way to guarantee access to the space you need (see the 'How to book a learning space' tab).

  • To see if a bookable IT space is available you can check the MyPC banner on the computer screen. If the banner says ‘Available’ then the resource can be used. It will also display the amount of time the resource is available for in minutes until the next booking.

  • When you log in to a bookable IT space the booking system will automatically create a booking for you. This means that the library booking policy will apply to your booking, please take some time to read the booking policy information on this page to understand what this means for your booking.

  • If a bookable space without IT is available you can use the space but please be aware that if another user books the space you will need to relocate to another available space or a non-bookable area.

If you want to use other spaces on campus that are not in the library then you can book these using Resource Booker.
