Reading Lists Online: A Student Guide

What is a reading list?

Reading lists provide access to all your recommend reading in one handy place!  The list has been designed to develop your subject knowledge and you can develop further by searching in Library Search for other resources related to your module.  Think of the reading list as your starting point within each subject.

Here is some basic information about reading lists to get you started:

  • You will have online reading lists for each of the modules that you are studying.
  • Reading lists are created by your lecturers to support your learning on each module.
  • Your reading lists can contain a variety of resources such as books, eBooks, journal articles, webpages, videos or specially digitised content.
  • Your lecturers may set resources as 'Essential', 'Background', 'Optional' or 'Suggested for Student Purchase' depending on the importance of the resource.  This can help you to plan your reading by seeing which resources are Essential.  We recommend asking the module leader if the importance of a resource is not clear.
