Library and Skills Centre Teachmeet 2025

Location

Event Location: Surrey Building, Room 5520 (fifth floor, Room 20), Sheffield Hallam University, City Campus, S1 1WB.

Below you can find an image of room 5520. We cannot control the lighting level in this room, but one side of the room is lined with windows we can open that let in lots of natural light. The furniture arrangement may be slightly different on the day from what's pictured, as we will likely opt to join tables to create small groups.

Here is an AccessAble guide for Surrey Building which provides information on various accessibility considerations for the building.

Parking is not available on campus. However, there is all-day parking available nearby. Further details are available on the Sheffield Hallam Where to Park guide

Surrey Building is approximately a 10-minute walk from the train station. The route is accessible but does include a relatively steep incline up the hill. Surrey Building is part of a cluster of interconnected Sheffield Hallam buildings and is most easily accessed through the entrance to Owen Building. The directions suggested by apps such as Google Maps may be misleading. Below is a map with added arrows to show the easiest route from Sheffield Train Station. More detailed directions are available below.

Map showing the route from Sheffield Station to Surrey Building. Walk through Sheaf Square outside the station and up the hill of Howard Street. Turn right to enter Owen Building. Walk through Owen Building and turn right to enter Surrey Building.

Directions from Sheffield station

Leave the train station through the main doors and follow the path which curves up the hill. There will be a steel water feature on your right. Continue until you reach the pedestrian crossing.

Go across the traffic-lighted pedestrian crossing and the subsequent crossing directly ahead. From here, continue straight up the path and up the hill (Howard Street).

When you are near the top of the hill, you will see a pub called The Globe and a mural on the side of a building opposite it, which says 'Now then' with a brightly coloured background. Turn right into Hallam Square which has a seating area on the left.

On your right, head into a building called Owen, there is a sign that says "Main Entrance" and "WELCOME" above the main doors.

Once in Owen, head across the entrance way, past a sign that says "Owen Lift".

You will come across two double doors with a sign above that says "Access to Atrium Heartspace, Eric Mensforth, Harmer, Howard, Hertha Ayrton Stem Centre, Norfolk, Sheaf and Surrey". Go past the lifts on either side, continuing straight through the next double doors into the Atrium.

Go past the staircase to the left until you reach a landing space. The Atrium Café will be on your left.

Continue straight and go into a door on your right with the Surrey building marked on it.

There will be staff members around on the day who will help you find the room. Alternatively, you can watch the video below.
