Facilitating Inclusive Practice in UniSkills project at Edge Hill University

Facilitating Inclusive Practice in UniSkills was a project at Edge Hill University which aimed to identify practical ways to create inclusive and accessible environments and fully understand the barriers students can face in hybrid or in-person sessions. The project was supported by training from the charity AbilityNet. The following resources have been shared by Helen Briscoe in relation to this project:

SPACE framework for meeting the needs of autistic people

The article linked below (open access) outlines the SPACE framework for meeting the needs of autistic people. This framework was developed for healthcare settings but can be applied to an educational context:

Doherty, M., McCowan, S., & Shaw, S. C. K. (2023). Autistic SPACE: a novel framework for meeting the needs of autistic people in healthcare settings. British Journal of Hospital Medicine, 84(4). https://doi.org/10.12968/hmed.2023.0006

More resources on inclusive practice for autistic students can be found in the slides for the presentation on using co-production to develop a culture of neuro – inclusion for autistic students within academic libraries.
