Law

Welcome

Welcome to the subject guide for Law.

This guide is designed to direct you to the essential resources for your subject. The guide has been compiled by your Learning and Teaching Librarian.

The guide has been divided into different sections such as books, journals, legal databases and other resources. When selected, each of the tabs on your left expands to give you a further menu with more specific options such as "journals for law" and "UK Legislation and Cases".

This guide covers the core resources you need for day-to-day study and research.  However, you may sometimes find other subject guides useful for specialised topics. For more information about library services , see Library Online pages.

What to do if a book is not available in the Library

If there's a book which you need but which we don't have in stock, we can ask another library to loan you a copy, or to email you a copy of an individual chapter or section. This can be done through our document supply service.

If you think a book may be useful for other students or staff as well as yourself, you can also request that the Library buys a copy. We can't promise to buy everything but will do what we can for feasible requests which are relevant to courses at Sheffield Hallam.

What to do if a journal article is not available in the Library

If we don't have a journal article or conference proceeding in stock, we can ask another library to email a copy to you via our Document Supply Service. While it may not be possible to get absolutely everything, the vast majority of articles can be obtained this way.
