Reading Lists

The library provides a Reading Lists Online (RLO) system which allows all reading lists at SHU to be integrated with the library collection and automatically linked from Blackboard module sites. They are the primary means by which new library resources can be ordered for library stock.

Reading lists are created and managed by module leaders. When an academic publishes changes to a reading list, the list is sent into the Review process, where it is reviewed by the Library Resources Team. Working in collaboration with the relevant subject librarian, the Resources Team will purchase new resources or additional copies needed for that RLO and check that all links are working smoothly.

Library staff offer a range of support to staff with creating and editing RLOs:

If you would like a book to be added to the library collection to support your teaching, add that item to the relevant reading list (guidance on bookmarking items not in the library).

When an ebook isn’t available for a key text, we can normally digitise a section to be included on the RLO (more information on digitisation here).

For other discussions around how the library collection can best support your teaching, contact your subject librarian.
