Making the most of your Library on and off-campus

Welcome

Whether you are on-campus, at home, away or on the move, your library provides you with a wide range of resources, support and opportunities for your learning and research, available at the point of need anytime anywhere.

COVID-19 update

Please check the latest Sheffield Hallam University Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice for staff and students.

Adsetts and Collegiate Library buildings will reopen on Monday 21st September and will be open all day, every day: 24 hours a day - 7 days a week - 365 days a year.

Socially distanced study spaces will be available for individual quiet study and you will need to book these before visiting the libraries using MyPC. The cafes within both libraries will be open to provide hot drinks, snacks and sandwiches.

There will be no direct access to the bookshelves, but our Click & Collect service will continue to provide you with print resources when the library buildings reopen.

If you cannot get online from home, access specialist software, or the other learning resources you need to complete assessments or prepare for examinations, please contact Hallam Help.

Click & Collect and Returning Library Items

From Monday 20th July, you can now request items via Library Search to collect from Adsetts Library. You will be able to request items to collect at Collegiate Library from Monday 27th July. You can also return Library items to either site. Please see the Click & Collect and Returning items page for full details.

If you have print books or other physical items currently on loan:

All due dates for print books and other physical items have been extended to the 5th October 2020. Borrowing limits have been extended to 30 items for all students and staff. No item can be recalled and overdue fines have been suspended.

Extended access to online resources during the initial COVID-19 lockdown

To support universities through the initial COVID-19 lockdown, a number of publishers were offering libraries free access to a range of resources, including books, journals and videos. Access began in March 2020, but that free access period for most has now expired.

If you want to consult a resource that we had access to, but which has now been removed from Library Search, or is not available on your reading list, please contact us with details using the Resources on Request (RoR) service and we will look at the possibility of purchasing the item. We are also working to identify in demand textbooks to make available online.

RoR has been created to facilitate your access to resources, and in recognition that our normal document supply services are suspended.
